Sushi Cake

Our friend Mike is just a bit obsessed with sushi and was thrown a surprise sushi rolling/eating party for his birthday. What could be a better birthday cake? I found the idea from here - http://shrimpsaladcircus.blogspot.com/2009/08/how-to-sday-ikura-sushi-birthday-cake.html
I wanted Mike to actually be able to eat his birthday cake without disastrous consequences so it's lactose free. The cake was chocolate Wacky Cake, coconut milk frosting, green fruit roll ups on the outside for "nori" and topped with shredded coconut "rice" and orange jello "roe".

On to solids...

It begins with a highchair. At first Copper was very suspicious of Prof. Penguin.

All geared up.

Mmmm?

He was a little skeptical but it went well. Pretty sure he was just playing along so he could get the spoon.

Easter!

Good morning to Copper. He got a ridiculous amount of Easter goodies from his mommy and grandmama's!

Sarah and Sean slaving away all day preparing our feast! Oh, and Brett.

Easter egg dying and bunny puzzles. Nice job Mike and Megan.

It was raining so they had to get clever with their indoor egg hiding.

Looking for eggs!

Apparently Copper was the best egg finder.

Sean cutting the brevity with serious news announcements? He later pulled out "The Bible" to educate us during dinner.

Unfortunately we were too busy eating to get pictures of the feast, but you can tell by these satisfied faces that it was delicious!

Too much fun.

Refreshed

A new look for our blog! Brett and I agreed that it looked a bit boring so I spiffy-ed it up a bit. I loved the picture of SF behind our title but our lives have been more about our new family and less about getting out into the city. It's also became just a simple picture album but we want to continue to share our lives with our families near and afar with those great snap shots.

So here's one more...

Banfield Benihana Bash

Grandparents at Le Mar

Copper's Grammy and Poppy Johnson came all the way down to spend an entire week with their grandson. Their visit was full of long walks, sunshine and snuggles! We snagged some great pictures during lunch out at Le Mar, a Peruvian restaurant near the Ferry Building.

Copper and Grammy. He loved being part of the table and was fascinated by all the bright colors!

Copper is dressed just like his Poppy!

Oh, those Peruvian lovin' lovebirds!

Robert wants my delicious fried calamari.

Crab causa, fried calamari, spicy cebiche and behind it is plantain chips with dipping sauces and a Peruvian Mule. Mmm!

I gave that Habenero slice to Brett!

Bouncy baby

Whaaaa?
